Volvo trucks wanted to showcase the “precision and control” of their new FH series semi trucks and how did they do that? They hired world record-holding funambulist Faith Dickey and Hollywood stunt co-ordinator Peter Pedrero to shoot a video that helps shows it off.
If Dickey were to tightrope walk between two still trucks it wouldn’t be considered death-defying neither would it be considered news, so they had the trucks cruising down a deserted Croatian highway at just under 80 kmph (50 mph) while she traversed across several feet staring at death, hanging by a thread, figuratively speaking of course.
Alas, Volvos are considered to be amongst the safest road machines and for them to film something livin la vida loca style seems to be a little against their ethos. This irony of the campaign is obvious, but matters is that if you want to tightrope walk between to moving semis, get a Volvo?
