The 6th model to join Volkswagen R family in the Middle East is the Volkswagen Beetle R-line. And the usual accompanying suspects are a sportier exterior styling and interior aesthetics.
The new model joins the superhero Golf R, the just-for-kicks Scirocco R and the R-line models of the Touareg, Tiguan and CC. Who knew there were so many?
The Beetle R-Line features added air intakes in the front and centre to feed the turbocharged 207 bhp 2.0-litre engine. They could have added another 10 bhp to owner’s bragging rights, we think!
The rear of the car gets a lower diffuser and a large spoiler along with the R-Line door entry sills.
More importantly, the sporty bug also features enormous 20-inch “Monterey” alloy wheels with as many spokes as a bicycle wheel.
On the insides, two-tone cloth sport seats, a multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel with R-Line badging and a set of sport gauges mounted on the top of the centre console, borrowed from the Scirocco R which itself is borrowed from Sciroccos of the past.
As standard comes with panoramic tilt/slide sunroof, Xenon headlamps with LED separate daytime running lights, a multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel with gear shift and media radio systems, better touch screen tech, Bluetooth and USB connection.

We are thinking of calling it the BeetleR? Have you any nicknames?
