The Tesla Model S clocks the fastest quarter-mile by an EV

2012 Tesla Model S 6Tesla Model S, the ‘Car of the Year 2013’ as voted by Automobile magazine and Motortrend is also the world’s fastest production Electric Vehicle or EV. According to the DragTimes.com the five-door ran past the quarter-mile at the Palm Beach International Raceway in 12.371 seconds at 110.84 mph. That figure is as impressive as its 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds. National Electric Drag Racing Association or NEDRA certified the new world record.

The previous record was clocked by Tesla Roadster owned by Zachary Vex and driven by Stella Kostolna at the Speedworld Dragstrip in Arizona stood at 12.582 at 104.58 mph.
