The McLaren MP4-12C Spider has officially reached State-side and it was displayed in Monterey, in the presence of the welcoming party. The convertible supercar boasts a retractable hardtop and goes from being encapsulated to open skies in 17 seconds.
McLaren claim that even with its roof structure put away, the MP4-12C Spider shell remains just as stiff as that on the coupe.
The Spider shares the same twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 that makes 616 horses with the coupe. Performance claims are biblical, 100 kmph comes up in 3.1 seconds and if you let it loose, it will touch 207 mph or 333 kmph.
If you choose to buy the McLaren MP4-12C Spider, it will make you poorer by $265,750, else go cheap by pocketing the keys to the $241,800 coupe.
