The all-new Mazda 6 | First Visuals

Check out sneak previews of the 2013 Mazda 6. Stylistically, the lines and curves have been inspired by the swoopy Takeri concept car (pictured above) showcased at the last Tokyo motor show.

The Takeri which is powered by a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine churns out 173 bhp and 310 lb ft, yet emits only 104 g/km of CO2. It is a testament of Mazda’s SkyActiv engineering philosophy. The new 6 since is believed to be equally efficient taking advantage of SkyActiv features such as stop/start, low-friction components and regenerative braking, dubbed i-ELOOP.

The i-ELOOP braking system harnesses energy when you apply the brakes and stores it in a capacitor to run the car’s electric systems. This saves battery loss and is claimed to stretch combined fuel economy by up to 10%.
