Hear Ye Hear Ye! Now available across all Middle Eastern showroom is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro convertible featuring what is claimed to be the most sophisticated retractable soft-top in the segment.
This convertible top is a fully automatic operation with latches that automatically release and secure the top. It can also be opened or closed at speeds up to 48 km/h and remotely operated via the key fob, which we believe is the first for any segment. The soft top as such is a hard tonneau cover. The electro-hydraulic power roof system features multi-layer construction – including acoustic and thermal barriers – designed for a comfortable, quiet driving experience throughout the year. Even with this folding contraption added to the vehicle, Chevy was able to manage a roofline that emulates that of the Camaro coupe.
The convertible also benefits from a stiffer, lighter structure that helps reduce total vehicle weight by at least 91 kg compared to its predecessor without compromising the structural rigidity of the chassis.
The architecture also enables the Camaro convertible’s sleek design, allowing the top to fold down completely beneath the belt line. The hard tonneau cover automatically covers the folded top, creating a finished appearance.
Like the coupe, the convertible will be available with either an all-new 3.6-litre V6 producing and SAE-certified 335 horsepower, or the LT1 6.2-litre V8, which is SAE-certified at 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque – making this generation’s car the most powerful Camaro SS ever. All motors will be linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The 2017 Camaro coupe and convertible will be produced at General Motors’ Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Lansing, Mich.
