Superbowl breaks for Audi S8 ad

For the 6th year running Audi is taking up commercial-spots during NFL’s Super Bowl, with their “Heighten Every Moment.” ad campaign exhibiting high-performance S models, starting with the Audi S8

The new Audi S8 employs a 520 horsepower 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic Tiptronic that helps it complete the 0 to 100 km/h dash in a Porsche Panamera Turbo S-rivalling 3.9 seconds.

Last year, Audi’s “Vampire Party” showcased the brand’s signature LED headlight technology. In 2011, Audi’s “Release the Hounds,” featured the Audi A8 and Kenny G; a;so was the first Super Bowl spot in history to use a Twitter hashtag. In 2010, Audi showed off the A3 TDI “Green Car of the Year” to the tunes of rock legends Cheap Trick.  The 2009 spot had actor Jason Statham involved in some high speed chases and in 2008, Audi’ss first Super Bowl spot played a parody of the movie “The Godfather”.

Well truth is Audi have the cash for heavy-duty ad campaigns, they have the tech’ and the power readied up in their cars, especially in and for the S8…but it’s a shame the car looks almost like your run-off-the-mill A8. They most definitely are going a little overboard with their understated luxury.
