SKODA KODIAQ SCOUT & SPORTLINE, 2 variants of the new Czech SUV will be presented at the Geneva International Motor Show, open from 7 to 19 March 2017.
Dimensions & Volumes
The new SKODA KODIAQ is 4,697 mm long, 1,882 mm wide and 1,676 mm tall (including roof rails); its wheelbase measures 2,791 mm. Ground clearance of 194 mm, while approach and departure angles are 22.0 and 23.1 degrees. It can seat up to seven passengers and has the largest interior volume in clasS; so is the 720-litre boot, expandable to 2,065. It can also transport items up to 2.80 m long and tow up to 2.5 tons.
Exterior Design
The sharp exteriors of the SKODA KODIAQ, inspired by traditional Czech crystal glass art, are characterised by short overhangs, sloping roofline and a tapered rear end – a shape that achieves a cxvalue of just 0.33. It features a 3-dimensional radiator grille with 2 double-headlights with LEDs as standard upfront, while wedge-shaped rear lamps and bumper-infused exhaust pipes define the rear. 14 paint choices are available – 4 standard and 10 metallic colours. The appearance of the components varies according to the three trim levels – Active, Ambition and Style, with wheel sizes ranging from 17- to 18-inches.
The ŠKODA KODIAQ SCOUT will get silver accents on the radiator grille, roof rails, mirror housing, side window trims and 3-part front and rear underbody protection. The protective side trims of the SPORTLINE are body-coloured, while the remainder of the fore mentioned trims come in black. Both ride on 19-inch alloy wheels with new designs with 20-inch wheels optional on the SPORTLINE. Both will have tinted rear window and rear side windows and will bear their respective badges with the model designation on the front wing and the glove compartment.
Interior Design & Features
Both the versions are based on the SE trim which feature a Volkswagen-esque interior that comes standard with equipment LED ambient lighting in ten colours, a Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB) with 8 speakers. The SCOUT gets power-adjustable Alcantara-covered seats and door trims, textile floor mats, steel wheels and the KODIAQ logos here and there. The SPORTLINE will additionally get Alcantara sports seats with silver-coloured stitching, aluminium pedals and a multifunctio screen displays G-forces, boost pressure, engine output and relevant temperatures.
The SKODA KODIAQ is equipped with a capacitive touch displays feature a glass design. The top-spec Columbus navigation system, has a 9.2-inch screen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, LTE module and will be offered with Google Earth Services and Street View. The systems can even be configured using your home computer or via the app.
Powertrain and Output
The entry-level KODIAQ gets the compact four-cylinder generates 92 kW (125 PS) and 200 Nm of torque. Its NEDC consumption is 6.0 l per 100 km, which corresponds to 47.1 mpg and 140 g CO2/km. The SCOUT and SPORTLINE however come with either of these four engines:

All engines feature direct injection and meet EU6 emission standards, a Stop-Start system and brake energy recovery. Depending on the engine, there is a 6-speed manual gearbox or DSG transmissions with 6 or 7 speeds available. The all-wheel drive is an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch that is front-wheel biased under light load and when coasting for efficiency, while being capable of applying the ideal driving torque for the rear axle when necessary. Stopping power comes from large ventilated brake discs, while handling is helped by electronic differential lock XDS+. Both variants come with Off-Road Assist, a Rough-Road package with underbody and engine protection, front and rear Park Assist and Driving Mode Select (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow), which can control the engine, transmission, power steering and air conditioning.
Safety Features
New driver assistance systems include Trailer Assist, Blind Spot Detect, Rear Traffic Alert, Crew Protect Assist function, which closes windows and the sunroof in the event of an impending accident and tensions the seat belts of the front seats, City Emergency Brake and predictive Pedestrian Protection functions. The 360 degree Area-View system is also a first for the brand.
ŠKODA will be present at hall 2 on the first floor of the Palexpo Exhibition Centre.
