Following on its special-edition Wraith that was “Inspired by Film”, Rolls-Royce has now returned with another inspirational design, “Inspired by Film”.
It was unveiled at one of the top design schools, stateside – the Pratt Institute in New Yorkon on May 8.
The aesthetics have been revamped using colour palettes, materials and techniques from the world of haute couture.
The exterior features a tone-on-tone white colour scheme of Andalucian White and Arctic White. This neutral canvas aptly sets off the optional accent colours of Jasmine (green), Tailored Purple or Mugello Red. While, the interiors have been prepped in a contemporary take on the car’s classic Arctic White and Black colour scheme with the aforementioned accents appearing in the embroidered headrests, seat stitching and piping.
What takes the cake, is the steering wheel in a striking two-tone composition, with a seamless stitch finish which is a complex craft by itself. The car’s front and rear door pockets are lined with luxurious silk, while the dashboard features a wood lacquer, applied painstakingly over 9 days. Added to this is a bespoke clock, set like pearlescent nestling and specialist welting on the leather door-panels.
On another note, have they forgotten denim, aviators, hot pants and lace? That’s fashion too you know Mr. Rolls-Royce! And how come Mr. Bentley ain’t doing stuff like this?
