The new MG 360 sub-compact sedan has been launched in the Middle East by the once iconic British automotive brand MG – now owned by Chinese automotive group SAIC Motors. This is the first region in the world to receive this new model.
The MG 360 wears the brand’s new ‘silk modelling’ design language. It isn’t a radical by any means but poses as a neat-looking vehicle that is complemented by sleek crystal LED DRL lamps at the front and rear, side indicators integrated into the door mirrors and sporty 16-inch alloy wheels.
The new model has been built with a USD. No we aren’t taking about North American currency, we are talking about Ultimate Stiffness Design which is a reinforced body structure which utilizes 70% high strength steel. This helps improve NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness) levels and safety to some extent.
The MG 360 is comparable to segment leaders like the Nissan Sunny, Kia Rio and Toyota Yaris in terms of space thanks to its 2660mm wheelbase and also offers 482 litres of boot space with 40/60 foldable rear seats and up to 23 different storage compartments.
On the inside, customers can avail “cutting-edge” Intelligent Telematics System, a InkaLink Vehicle System that is Android Mobile compatible, an 8” touchscreen – a rather large size for the segment – Bluetooth and a digital speedometer. In terms of safety you have the usual suspects such as ABS, EBD, ESP and EBA. It also comes with tyre pressure monitoring system, electric power steering, parking sensors, a rear parking camera and cruise control, ofcourse.
Powering the MG 360 is a 1.5L DVCT efficient petrol unit delivers maximum power of 109 hp and 135 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Obviously cars in this segment are geared not for acceleration but for frugality and the MG 360 is claimed to travel 100km on just 6.3L, making it almost as frugal as a hybrid Toyota Prius.
Prices start at AED 39,500 for the entry-level model and goes all the way till AED 45,000.
