Mercedes-Benz is the walking the wire by calling newly launched CLS Shooting Brake coupe like but at least they have BMW boffins wanting to ready up a “Gran Coupe” estate.
European versions get either a 306 bhp producing 3.5-litre V6, in the CLS 350 or a 408 bhp twin-turbo 4.6-litre V8 in the CLS500. There are also two diesel versions planned, a 2.1-litre four banger in the CLS250 CDI and a 3.0-lite V6 in the CLS350 CDI.
4Matic all-wheel drive is optional except in the RWD 4-cylinder variant. Acceleration comes in at 7.8 seconds to 100 kmph for the CLS250 CDI, 6.7 seconds for the CLS350 and 5.3 for the CLS500. Top speed is limited to 250 kmph.
The cargo capacity in the CLS SB is a generous 1,550 litres. It comes equipped with optional aluminum loading rails, a wooden load compartment floor, automatically adjustable air suspension and even a towing kit.
