Over the years Hollywood actors have endorsed foreign products, like Kevin Costner for instance, favoured English coffee and Bill Murray sold whiskey in Japan. And now we have actor Richard Dean Anderson a.k.a. MacGyver, steering the Mercedes-Benz Citan to greater sales figures.
For generation Y who know not who MacGyver is, he was the protagonist in a US television show that was televised from 1985 to 1992, his forte being that he could fix or build anything with some duct tape, a paper clip, a piece of string and maybe some more, betwixt beating the bad guys.
Mercedes have released this trailer for a film called MacGyver und der neue Citan that will be released September 18. Shot in German, it’s hard to make out what they’re saying, but at least the action scenes are emphatic.
The Citan is available in three lengths, as a panel van, Mixto or crewbus. Power is available from three zippy diesel models producing between 55 and 81 kW and a supercharged petrol model with 84 kW.
Fuel economy figures tips the 4.3 l/100km mark and maintenance intervals are as wide as 40,000km/2 years.
The new Mercedes-Benz Citan, will be unveiled to the public for the first time at the IAA International Commercial Vehicle Show in September 2012.
