Land Rover has published a 28-page ‘Survival Guide.’, distributed as a manual extra in Dubai. The guide helps owners know what do do in case they find themselves stranded in the Arabian Desert. The guide was created by Y&R Dubai.
The cover is made from a reflective material used in the army and can be used to signal for help. The guide’s metal binder can be made into skewers allowing stranded drivers to can spear and cook hunted animals and indigenous plants that are safe to eat! It also has instructions on how to build a shelter, start a fire, and has a map.
And if required, Land Rover drivers can actually eat the guide which is made of potato-based starch paper and printed with glycerin based ink. It is a 100% edible and supplies about 372 calories!
The original set of copies catered to only 5,000 drivers, however the success of the tale meant that Land Rover will have to print an extra 70,000 copies, which will be an insert in an upcoming car magazine.
The first editions have an expiry on 15 February 2013. So hurry up and eat your copies now!
