According to The Telegraph, Jeremy Clarkson is currently the highest paid employee on the BBC.
In 2011, the Top Gear presenter brought home around $ 5.5 million, topping Graham Norton and Gary Lineker at around $ 3.1 million each.
Much of that success comes off the Top Gear brand for which Clarkson is paid around $782,000 to host the show, only. The rest we assume comes off the merchandizing empire that includes more than 150 licensed products. The Telegraph reports over four millionTop Gear DVDs have been sold worldwide.
Typically, celebrities earn in the U.S. television industry earn more than their counterparts in the BBC, but none can challenge the “British” sarcasm a.k.a. humour that JC delivers. Simply priceless!
