Merry Christmas Japan! Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will begin selling its hot new compact SUV – the Vezel – in Japan from the 20th of December, 2013.
The Vezel exteriors seem to be a sleek and slithery amalgam embedded with some Civic and CRV DNA and a few others. The in-cabin feel is typical Honda with their “centre-tank layout” dominating the theme, ‘magic seats’ and a steering that probably came of a Civic. What is beyond the regular story you may ask!
Well, there are these capacitive screen for touch controls, an electronic parking brake, and a lengthy air-vents for better air distribution.
And there is a sport button for a hybrid? Well, those of you who are familiar with CR-Z, may not find that strange. But what would be strange is, if it makes it actually sporty. A 4WD option will be available for both hybrid and petrol variants.
The 453-litre cargo space can hold up to three regular golf bags (as opposed to the two you would be usually carrying) while using the rear seats. Obviously, the top-dogs at Wall Street and the real estate sector are going to leave the Jag and take the Vezel to the club to impress some.
The hybrid variant will be equipped with SPORT HYBRID i-DCD*2, Honda’s next-generation Hybrid System. It combines 1.5-litre direct injection engine with an electric motor. It will also be running the roads using Honda’s Real Time All-Wheel-Drive (AWD), which controls torque distribution with electronic precision.
The Vezel is also equipped with Electric Parking Brake and Automatic Brake Hold, as standard equipment and it gets the acoustic treatment usually seen on high-end saloon models.
European markets will get a taste of it in 2015 and as for the Middle East, how about a more premium model says the clan of the region. Specifications for the Euro-spec model have yet to be released.
Oh and BTW, i-DCD stands for Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive
HO! HO! HO….NDA!!!
