Hello, Type R!!! Yes, fellas! The Civic Type R is back, or rather will be back in 2015. Bolted to the engine bay will be a feisty 250 bhp turbocharged 1.6-litre turbocharged engine.
Mated to it the motor will be an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, for it’s obvious performance and fuel-economy advantages.
At the Paris Motor Show, Honda CEO Takanobu promised that the Civic Type R would be the fastest front-wheel-drive model ever around the Nurburgring. Currently, that record is held by Renaultsport Megane 265 Trophy, a brisk 8 minutes and 8 seconds.
Expect the Type R to tip the scales at 1,200 kg and with 250 horses and sub-300 Nm* of torque, we estimate the Japanese hot hatch to sprint from a standstill to a 100 km/h in a tick above 6 seconds and if the stretch of tarmac allows, it should hit in-excess-of 250 km/h.
I’d like to think of the Civic Type R as a hot Japanese model say Harumi Nemoto or Miri Hanai! Stuff that wallpapers are made out of!
