The famed all-American motorcycle manufacturer plans to retire 6 models for 2014, namely the XR1200X Sportster, FXS Softail Blackline and the FLHTC Electra Glide Classic and three others.
The FLHRC Road King Classic will only go extinct in North America only, but the FLHR Road King won’t be reaching other markets as well. The FLTRX Road Glide Custom and the FLTRU Road Glide Ultra might return after a design overhaul.
Company personnel say that this reduces product overlap and makes it easier for customers to choose between models but it could also be because of declining sales numbers. Last year Harley-Davidson sales dropped 9 per cent, ironically profits were up a few.
Ducati and the Japanese company-of-four might revel in this news, but Harley Davidson promises to be back.
