Carbon fibre, also known as carbon-fiber or CF is a material used in automobiles, mainly made from carbon atoms, that exhibits properties such as high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion. These properties make them very advantages especially for use as body panels and as as a decorative trims in high-performance vehicles. In very expensive super cars such as the Porsche Carrera GT, this material is used for the chassis also.
