The performance division of Ford released the first pictures of the next generation Ford Fiesta ST, which will show face at the Geneva Motor Show 2017, to be held next month.
The hothatch which can be had in either a 3-door or 5-door bodystyle will be powered by an all-new 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine that takes advantage of technologies like turbocharging, high-pressure port fuel injection and direct fuel injection technology and Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing to deliver 200 PS of max. power and 290Nm of torque. These forces will help it accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds
The 3rd generation vehicle will be the first Ford Fiesta ST to feature selectable Drive Modes – enabling engine, steering and stability controls to be configured for Normal, Sport and Track driving modes. Drive Modes will also adjust Fiesta ST’s Electronic Sound Enhancement (ESE) technology and active exhaust noise control valve to help it be more vocal. It will also be equipped with Ford’s industry-first cylinder deactivation system for a 3-cylinder engine, for further reduced CO2 emissions of an 114g/km. This technology can disengage or re-engage one cylinder in 14 milliseconds – 20 times faster than the blink of an eye.
Chassis dynamics will be supported by enhanced Torque Vectoring Control technology and a 3-mode ESC will enable drivers to choose between full system intervention; wide-slip mode with limited intervention; and full system de-activation.
The next-generation Ford Fiesta ST – as seen in these picture below – will feature bold and distinctive exterior styling that includes a unique race-car-inspired mesh grille and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels. It will also offer more personalisation options. Customers will be able to choose from a range of trims for the gear lever, steering wheel, door pulls and decorative dashboard spear, and select from different styling packs. The Fiesta ST interior will feature Recaro seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Meanwhile, exterior colour options will include new Liquid Blue – as featured – and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels.
Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system will be available to control audio, navigation and connected smartphones using simple, conversational voice commands. Compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™, SYNC 3 is supported by floating, tablet-inspired touchscreens up to 8 inches in diagonal that can be controlled via pinch and swipe gestures. Audiophiles will enjoy the high quality B&O PLAY Sound Sytem.
