The first pictures of the all-new third-generation Kia Picanto are out. The new-generation sub-compact has been designed by Kia’s design centres in Namyang, Korea and Frankfurt, Germany bringing new visual energy to the A-segment.
The all-new model – revealed in Kia’s sports-inspired ‘GT-Line’ specification – conveys a more dynamic stance through bolder body lines, sporty 8 twin-spoke wheels, red accents (on the front grille and bumper, side skirts and rear valance) and chrome tipped dual exhausts.
The wheelbase of the new car gains 15 mm-longer (moving from 2,385 mm to 2,400 mm) which pushes the wheels further out into each of the four corners rendering a more stable appearance. For the Kia Picanto, the Korean manufacturer is offering a colour palette with a larger range of bold and vibrant paint schemes to add to its distinction within its class and on the road.
On the insides, the new Kia Picanto will be offering a plethora of features pertaining to comfort, convenience, technology and safety features, whilst upping the levels of refinement and cabin architecture. At the heart of the cabin is a new ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system, making the latest in-car technology available to occupants, possibly including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also.
Kia says that buyers of the all-new Picanto are expected to enjoy more cabin and cargo space than rivals in the segment. And in spite of its extended wheelbase, the Picanto retains its characteristically compact dimensions. With a shorter front overhang and longer rear overhang, the all-new model is the same length (3,595 mm) as the car it replaces.
The all-new Kia Picanto will make its maiden appearance at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show in March, and will go on sale in the Spring of 2017.
We expect the GCC-spec model to be available a little later, perhaps in the 3rd quarter of 2017. Trim levels and associated pricing details have yet to be announced.
