Ferrari 812 Superfast | New V12 Berlinetta To Debut At Geneva Motor Show 2017

The Italian brand with the ‘Prancing Horse’ emblem will showcase its new V12 berlinetta, the Ferrari 812 Superfast – the most powerful and fastest Ferrari in the marque’s history – at the 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show.

Engine, Output & Transmission

The mid-front-engined supercar aplty name Superfast, comes with the power of a new 6.5-litre V12 engine that churns out 800 cv at 8,500 rpm, which translates to a specific power output of 123 cv/l. The output is underlined by a maximum torque is 718 Nm available at 7,000 rpm and a rich exhaust soundtrack. This has been made possible by adopting a 350 bar direct injection system and variable geometry intake tracts, inspired by naturally-aspirated F1 engines. The Ferrari 812 Superfast will also be equipped with a quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission.

Such prodigious output allows the Superfast to get to 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of over 340 km/h. While fuel economy and C02 are not top priorities the fastback will still manage 14.9 l/100km and 340 g/km, respectively.

Vehicle dynamics

The 812 Superfast is prepped with Ferrari’s first EPS (Electric Power Steering), the latest 5.0 version of Ferrari’s patented Side Slip Control (SSC) and a new Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 system (PCV) to improve traction and handling.

Aesthetics and aerodynamics

Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the new Ferrari 812 Superfast is an evolution of previous front-engined V12 Ferraris of the past, highlighted by a sharp nose, a long hood and a fastback silhouette. Its 2-box design with a high tail is a throwback at the glorious 365 GTB4 of 1969. The car also features full-LED headlights integrated into the design of the sculpted air intakes on the bonnet. At hindsight, the Ferrari 812 Superfast gets 4 round tail-lights inspired by Ferrari tradition, an integrated spoiler, a 4-pipe exhaust system and even a body colour diffuser. The car is being launched in a special new colour, Rosso Settanta, which marks the company’s 70thanniversary.

Interior

The cabin is signature Ferrari and similar to the in the GTC4Lusso Shooting Brake launched last year. It features a flat-bottom steering wheel with a red starter button and the famous Manettino dial. The chic cabin decor is further accentuated with red and satin finish trims around the circular air vents and central bridge on the lower centre console. As for infotainment the Ferrari 812 gets the dual helper screens flanking the yellow tachometer and co-driver screen which also allows control of navigation, audio and performance info to go along with the central screen.
