Recently in Caledonia, the Minnesota Police Department added to their fleet a new Ford Crown Victoria, a car which was supposed to be out of production by September 2011. This spurred some interest amongst the local delinquents and the Houston County Sheriff’s Department, too.
According to reports, a Caledonia officer and a Houston County deputy went the extra mile doing the quarter mile in their Crown Vic’ and Dodge Charger on a local airport runway. Besides revving and smoking away tax-payer money, you should also know that the officers were on duty.
You might want to know between the Ford and Dodge, who won? The Ford-driving Caledonia officer handed the pink slip after he was awarded a month of suspension while the Dodge-driving deputy got away with a warning.
A former Caledonia commissioner reportedly alleged that there is a “culture of, quite frankly, bad behavior” at the sheriff’s department.
In his deputy’s defense, Houston County Cheif Deputy Scott Yeiter said the incident was “an employee coaching session.”
