First Teaser Of The New BMW 8 Series Coupe

BMW have just announced the arrival of the new concept car, which hints at the BMW 8 Series. The BMW Group will present this design study at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on 26 May 2017 which will provide an exclusive glimpse into the the BMW 8 Series Coupe scheduled to be launched in 2018. This explains the sudden cease of production of the the rather underwhelming BMW 6 Series. Good riddance we say! And the fact, that they have included the term “Coupe” in the name also hints at the possibility of a “Sedan” variant in the future.

“The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our line-up – a slice of pure automotive fascination,” says Harald Krüger. “The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment. I can tell you today that this will be a true luxury sports coupe”, he also added.

But a lot rests on the shoulders of these BMW boffins as the last BMW 8 Series was amongst the handsomest grand tourers, built by BMW from 1989 to 1999 powered by either a V8 and V12 engine. Let’s see how this turns out!

From the pic, we observe the following:

It will be equipped with LED DRLs upfront.

The rear haunches will be wide and pronounced.

A large rear spoiler will be neatly integrated into the boot, almost like a ducktail spoiler.

The overall length will be closer to the 5 metre mark.
