The Audi R8 e-Tron became the fastest production electric car when Markus Wankelhock lapped the Nurburgring North circuit in 8 minutes and 9 seconds.
The electric powertrain generates 308 hp and 820Nm of torque and enabling the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery can store up to 49 KWh of energy and gives the car a theoretical range of 215 km.
The production model has it’s top speed limited to 200 kmph, but the figure was increased to 250 kmph for its record-setting lap around Green Hell.
