World-famous Chinese artist Liu Bolin, a citizen of the communist regime, known for painting himself into the background of a painting, has collaborated with the Blue Oval manufacturer Ford for the 2013 Fusion ad campaign.
Bolin took Fusion rivals like the VW Passat, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord and painted them to blend into their respective backgrounds which meant visually merging the cars into landscaping, buildings and sidewalks. Oddly enough there is an Audi A4 in the plot as well.
The objective of the print ads is to highlight how the new Fusion makes other midsize sedan “disappear.” That shouldn’t be hard since every Tom(s), Harry and Dick drives a Camry.
