Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has collaborated with Expo 2020 Dubai to become their official automotive partner. This announcement was made earlier this month at the Expo site that covers a total of 4.38 square kilometres. At the event, the company also unveiled the all-new, second-generation Nissan LEAF – the world’s best-selling electric car – for the first time in the Middle East.
As Expo 2020’s partner, Nissan will provide the Expo 2020 fleet, including electric and next-generation vehicles featuring Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies. The Expo 2020 fleet will total approximately 1,000 Nissan vehicles to support both the preparations and delivery of the event. The vehicles will range from sedans and SUVs to pickup trucks and buses and they will be used for a variety of purposes, including construction, VIP visits and transport for participants and organizers. Nissan will also provide support for the fleet, such as maintenance, roadside assistance, insurance and Expo 2020 fleet branding.
The partnership’s objective is to propose and propogate electrification of mobility in the region. Nissan will also use the multi-event Expo 2020 as a platform to showcase Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology.
The collaboration was authorized by Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and director general, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, and Kalyana Sivagnanam, president for the Middle East and regional vice president for Africa, Middle East and India at Nissan.
Nissan also showcased a premiere video of its BladeGlider electric concept car, which was exhibited at the Nissan booth at the Dubai Motor Show, taking place from Nov. 14-18, 2017, at the Dubai World Trade Center. You can check out the video below:
