The Dubai Police patrols have seized 81 cars without licence plates. It would seem that some or all of them were removed by their owners in preparation of participating in illegal racing – Fast & Furious style
Some vehicles were seized by police, mainly on Owair and Ras Al Khor Roads, after some drivers made a desperate attempt to flee at 300 kph. said Major-General Khamis Al Mazinah, Commander-in-chief, Dubai Police.
In our knowledge, if a car has to even reach 300 km/h, it needs to be powered by a 400 bhp atleast and be streamlined like a Ferrari 360 Modena. Larger, heavier cars need way more power!
He mentioned that police patrols managed to catch some of those drivers with the help of the public, who reported their acts in their areas.
Mazinah stated that cars involved in unauthorized racing or reckless driving are impounded and a heavy fine is imposed upon their drivers. He also said that owners can have their cars released from the impound by paying AED 100,000.
