Everyone loves a good tint on their car windows! Generally, its helps to keep the heat out of the cabin…and people also tend to think it makes their vehicles look cooler, often slapping on a darker tint than what the law allows. But now, the Ras Al Khaimah Police have something to say about it.
“As per article No. 32 of the new federal traffic law, 30 per cent light brown tinting to side and rear windows is permitted and any driver involved in over tinting shall pay a fine of Dh500, and his or her vehicle shall be impounded for 30 days.”
The RAK Police official stated that “exceeding the 30 per cent permitted tinting level is risky for all road users as it “seriously affects and obstructs the driver’s visibility, especially at night.” He added, by saying that daily inspection campaigns will be launched on all roads of the emirate to stop “careless and erring” drivers involved in such “illegal practices.
Also, he recommended, “Wearing sunglasses and looking for a shaded parking area, along with the 30 per cent permitted tinting are better options to deal with the sun rays, he added. “Blacker tints decrease the driver’s response to surprise risks on the road.”
