Computer wizards Intel in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University are developing an innovative headlamp system that can reduce the distortion in visibility caused by rain in the driver’s line of sight.
CNET says that the camera housed within the headlight assembly detects rain as it falls, and then it by using a processor it predicts the path of the rain drops and blocks out pixels where the rain is expected to be. Thereby improving visibility.
Perhaps this may improve drivability in adverse weather conditions but this also a case of losing sight of reality, literally.
So this is what Johnny Nash meant, when he sang “I can see clearly now, the rain has gone”?
