Toyota UAE has announced the launch of the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser, featuring an array of exterior and interior upgrades, plus a string of new safety features that come as standard across the range such as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), rear fog lights, Tyre Pressure Monitor System (TPMS), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Crawl Control, for increased driver and occupant safety.
The top-dog 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR, available with either a 4.6-litre V8 or a 5.7-litre V8 engines, now comes with hydraulic suspension, Turn Assist Function (the smart technology that makes it turn like how a military tank does), Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 360 degree camera, Lane Departure Alert and a new Remote Engine Starter – Mobile App, allowing the drivers to start their cars remotely from their smart phones. Oh, then there is auto headlight levelling too.
On the outside, it comes decorated with a new LED roof spoiler, front and rear spoilers, sequential indicators (just like those fancy amber lights we see on Audi R8s) and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Comfort and infotainment wise, the VXR comes with an all-new 10.1-inch Dual FHD Display Rear Seat Entertainment system (RSE) with integrated mood lighting control, wireless mirroring link connection, allowing effortless streaming of mobile devices data onto either display (which we can’t wait to test), as well as SD card, USB & HDMI inputs. The job of shielding you from the sun is handled by a four-zone automatic climate control, while a 9-inch JBL screen upfront handles navigation and audio functionality have been augmented by DVD, AUX, USB and Bluetooth control with 14 speakers.
The 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR – also available with one of the three powertains – comes with the same advanced safety features as well as a new rear lip spoiler, sequential indicators, Remote Engine Starter – Mobile App, leather seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The EXR variant – also available with one of the three powertains – enjoys the same safety features and is available with a 9-inch navigation screen with Audio, DVD, AUX, USB and Bluetooth control, remote engine starter and turn assist function.
There is also base vehicle – ironically named 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Safari – that comes with a 4.0-litre V6. As bare-bone a vehicle it may have intended to be, it comes with all the safety features found on the Land Cruiser EXR.
