You probably thought that the 662 bhp, 631 lb-ft 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 was crazy good! Well, guess what! This year at the 2013 New York Auto Show we are going to be seeing a 1,200 bhp supercharged 5.8-litre V8 Shelby 1000.
Shelby previously launched the 1000 in 2012 to commemorate its 50 years of service and for the NYSA it returns with this version based on the 2013 GT500. Helping the 2013 Shelby 1000 build a 1,200 horsepower output is forced induction, revised engine mechanicals and improved cooling. An adjustable suspension, ultra-high performance brakes and launch control are all part of the package as well.
The world’s most powerful “production” muscle car is priced at $154,995 and that does not include the base Mustang GT500 on which the modifications have to be made. The car will run on 20-inch wheels.
Shelby American is now accepting orders and the Shelby 1000 has been limited to a production run of 100 units.
We think the 2013 already had enough power to split the Red sea, how about some independent rear suspension, Shelby!
Expected performance figures
0 to 62 mph: Under 3 seconds
0 to 100 mph: Under 7 seconds
0 to 124 mph: Under 9 seconds
