The 2013 Australian Motor Show which was to be held in Melbourne has been cancelled by its organizers three months prior to its scheduled opening.
Apparently, the drop in audience, consequential ticket sales and lack of manufacturer interest has led to this decision. Less than 20 brands have registered for the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and that did not include VW Group.
Auto-enthusiasts in Australia have to face yet another disappointment after the cancellation of the shows in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in the past five years. Sydney and Melbourne shows have became a joint venture of sorts; each city hosting a show every alternate year.
In recent time we have seen quite a few auto shows being cancelled, amongst them include those held in London, Zagreb and Amsterdam.
