Honda Motor Co. Africa and Middle East Office have announced the launch of the 2017 Honda Civic. The range now includes an all-new base 1.6L motor to accompany the 2.0L and 1.5L turbo motors launched earlier this year.
The Honda Civic 1.6L is styled similar to the 2.0L Civic range and will include standard features like LED Daytime Running Lights, distinctive C-shaped LED taillights, power side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals and the prominent chrome grille. The LX trim is also equipped with Halogen Fog Lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Whilst the interior of the 1.6L Civic will share the space and styling of that in the 2.0L and RS models. It includes air-conditioning with rear ventilation in LX grade, steering wheel mounted controls for Bluetooth Hands Free Telephone (HFT), a 5-inch touch screen audio and USB jacks. Standard across the include are 60:40 fold down rear seats, rear seat armrest with cup holders, sun visor extension mechanism and map light.
Convenience features in the LX grade include Smart Entry, Push Button Start, Rear Parking Sensors and Remote Engine Starter which allows for air-conditioning is switched on from a distance. Both grades have Electric Power Steering, Auto headlight off timer, Electric Parking Brake with Brake Hold Function that replaces hand lever with compact, easy to operate switch.
Powering the Civic 1.6L is the new SOHC i-VTEC engine producing a peak horsepower of 123 bhp at 6500 rpm and a top torque of 151 Nm of 4300 rpm. The engine is mated to a new generation Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The Civic’s new CVT has a taller final gear ratio for fuel-efficient low-rpm cruising, and new-generation G-Design shift logic for smooth acceleration and natural throttle response. The fuel efficiency of the DX and LX grades are are claimed to be a very optimistic 18.4 Km/l.
As expected the 1.6L Honda Civic will utilize Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure technology to enhance occupant protection and crash compatibility. And it includes Honda active-safety features such as Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control Systems (TCS), ABS, Electronic Brake Distributor (EBD), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).
The 6 available exterior colors for the 1.6L Civic with a standard of ivory interior are Taffeta White (exclusive), Polished Metal Metallic (exclusive), Lunar Silver Metallic, Midnight Burgundy Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Carnelian Red Pearl.
The new 2017 Honda Civic 1.6L will provide customers a cheaper and more frugal alternative to the budget-conscious customer. It is now available across all Honda showrooms in the UAE, GCC, Lebanon and Jordan.
